Puffers and Bloaters
This assignment was for my Nursing Foundations class during Level 1 of Nursing School. For this paper, we were to choose a chronic healthcare disease and discuss the disease process, the care required for the disease, as well as the healthcare costs and the prevalence of the disease. While doing all of this, we had to discuss how this impacted the individual as well as resources in the community.
For my paper, I chose to write about COPD, including bronchitis and emphysema. With researching this topic, I was able to apply the information that we had learned in the classroom to my clinical experiences at a more in-depth level. I have taken the knowledge gained from this research assignment and applied it to my practice as a nurse in helping to educate patients about their disease process and the resources available to them.
This paper fits into the Problem Solving SCI Learning Outcome because I explained the problem at hand and explained why it was an issue that mattered. I then identified the local and national approaches to this issue as well as provided a solution to the problem at hand by identifying causative and irritating factors. I also acknowledged the feasibility of this solution and weighed the risks of the disease for the affected patient.
