To Resuscitate or Not 

This assignment was done in my CORE 202 class which focused heavily on ethics. All of the members of my group were pursuing a career in the medical field where resuscitating would be a topic of discussion. This assignment also really helped prepare me for all of the legal matters that I would encounter in my Nursing Foundations class. 

Do Not Resuscitate orders are very controversial and have many legalities involved. As a group we explored the ethical implications that accompanied this topic.  We then developed a case study to make our readers really understand how tangled and unclear the orders really can be if they are not documented properly. Our group constructed a powerpoint after writing our paper and presented our topic to the class to get their verbal feedback on this healthcare ethical dilemma. 

​This assignment is included in the Ethical Reasoning and Problem Solving SCI Learning Outcomes. This assignment fits under the Ethical Reasoning category because we evaluated assumptions and implications of different ethical concepts and demonstrated a clear understanding of legal and moral aspects of a local and national healthcare dilemma.
